Position Summary
The GMHILL Superintendent oversees all field operations on assigned projects, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, budget, and customer satisfaction. This role leads subcontractor superintendents, enforces company and USACE project requirements, and manages daily reporting, AHAs, and APPs using EM385‑1‑1 standards. Federal USACE project experience as a Superintendent/SSHO/CQM is required. This position promotes and maintains a safe and healthy work environment.
Key Tasks
• Lead and coordinate trade contractors to deliver high‑quality work per schedule.• Serve as the primary field safety representative on large or multiple projects.
• Manage general conditions and site‑services budgets.
• Review and understand contract documents to plan work and prevent issues.
• Supervise field personnel to ensure on‑time, on‑budget, high‑quality completion.
• Prepare and review submittals with subcontractors, suppliers, and owner representatives.
• Monitor site safety, compliance, and productivity.
• Confirm required construction permits.
• Resolve jurisdictional issues.
• Communicate potential issues, schedule conflicts, and logistics needs to Project Managers.
• Plan and oversee work‑arounds, shutdowns, and tie‑ins.
• Prepare schedules, staffing needs, materials, equipment, and punch‑list items.
• Build trust with owners, contractors, and project partners.
• Maintain a positive, respectful work environment.
• Perform other assigned duties.
Education and Training Requirements:
• High school diploma/GED required; bachelor’s in Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
• 10+ years as a Superintendent, SSHO, CQM, or related construction management role with successful project experience from $500K–$10M+.
• Procore Superintendent Certification (within 30 days if not already certified).
• OSHA 30, ARC First Responder, USACE CQM, First Aid/CPR, and Bloodborne Pathogens certifications.
Knowledge, Skill and Competency Requirements:
• Ability to travel within operational regions.
• Ability to work in varied field conditions and meet physical job demands.
• Proficiency with industry software (Procore, MS Office, MS Project; RMS preferred).
• Strong customer service and relationship‑building skills.
• Collaborative team orientation with effective communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time‑management abilities; able to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to read and interpret complex civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical plans.
Other:
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.
