Structural Engineer
Position Summary
The Structural Engineer is primarily responsible for designing load-bearing structures or structural elements, such as buildings, bridges, or roadways. This position performs analysis of building materials for use in construction. Additional consideration for Federal design and design/build experience.
Key Tasks
- Provides structural engineering and analysis for development of structural plans
- Assists with the production of contract drawings, engineering plans and details for various structural projects
- Assists with providing structural solutions
- Assists with construction administration, review construction submittals and respond to contractor questions
- Assists with writing specifications for structural projects
- Assists project manager with coordination of projects between contractors, owners, architects and other disciplines
- Performs site visits as necessary during the design and/or construction phase services of a project
- Assists in the preparation of reports detailing investigations & assessments of structures
Education and Training Requirements:
- Engineer Intern Training (EIT) certification required or ability to achieve within 6 months
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Federal Project Experience (Defense and/or Civilian Agency), preferred
Knowledge, Skill and Competency Requirements:

- Team Orientation & Interpersonal – highly motivated, passionate and creative team-player with ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all levels within and external to the organization
- Communication – able to effectively and persuasively express self verbally and in writing, using correct language and grammar in a professional, diplomatic and tactful manner
- Organization & Time Management – able to work independently with minimal supervision, planning, scheduling and organizing professional schedule to complete actions within established deadlines, handling multiple priorities with strong attention to detail
- Systems & Software – knowledgeable in the use of AutoCAD, Revit, structural analysis software, Ram structural system, MathCad, Enercalc, and Microsoft Office software applications
